Treating Depression With Compassionate Counseling

Depression is more than just feeling a bit down. It is an illness that can affect your life in many ways and can last for weeks, months and even years.

It may be difficult for you to talk to your friends and family about how you feel. You may have distressing thoughts that are too frightening to say out loud for risk of being rejected or stigmatised. You may be concerned that you will overburden those around you if you open up about how you really feel.

Heartridge Counselling

Symptoms you may be experiencing:

  • Low mood, feelings of emptiness or low self esteem
  • Feelings of anger, resentment, shame or excessive guilt and worry
  • Loss of energy and interest in the things you find enjoyable, things feeling pointless
  • A sense of hopelessness and helplessness
  • Poor concentration, difficulty making decisions, irritability and negative ideas about yourself and the future
  • Sleep disturbance, change in appetite, isolating yourself from others
  • Feeling suicidal or thinking of harming yourself

Counselling can offer you a safe and confidential space where we can explore what has led you to feel this way,  to identify any thoughts and beliefs that are contributing to your depression and  help you to move forward towards a life that feels more comfortable for you.
